How to use categories

Wiki Categories can be very useful to sort pages to different subjects. This can help to find wikis.

For example the IRC main page is listed in the following categories:

[[Category: Communication]]
[[Category: Free software]]
[[Category: Help]]
[[Category: IRC]]
[[Category: RBOSE]]
[[Category: RBOSE Projects]]

To add a category just add at the end of the editing wiki page the category tag.

For example if you want to add to the Test page the Category:Meetings then edit the page and put the following at the end of the code:

[[Category:Meetings]]

Check the Category list for existing categories.

How to create a link to category

To create a link to category page and don't put the page itself into that category, one has to use the colon in front of the Category word:

[[:Category:Free software]]
[[:Category:IRC | text chat]]

Create a new category

If you miss a category, then you can also easily create one, by typing following in your address bar of your browser:

http://rbose.org/wiki/index.php?title=Category:NEW_CATEGORY

Replace "NEW_CATEGORY" with the category name you would like to add, press enter. Now click on the "Create" button in the right menu on the top to create the category.

Categorize a category

If you create a new category (or edit one which exists, but isnt categorize, all red links), then it makes sense to categorize the category as well, to easily find the category.
