Import Wave: General

Contents

Description

There has been a lot of info gathered at google wave in various RBOSE waves (formerly known as TZM waves). However, we need to evacuate all that info soon, as google has stopped developing wave, and does not gurantee its existence any longer as end of 2010. Also, you need a google account to even view and maybe edit that content, which seems unsatisfactory at least.

Plan

We can not simply copy and paste a wave to the wiki, as all formatting, links, etc. would be lost. We found the furry bot, which can export a wave to google docs, complete with all formatting, links, etc. So our curent plan looks as follows:

  1. (wave->docs) Export each wave to docs via furry. This step is time-critical as we don't know when wave will be going down.
  2. (docs->wiki) From there it should be quite easy to import the info to our wiki in the form of single wiki pages for each wave, linking to each other, as did the waves before. This step is also important, as the docs content will still not be available to anyone without a google account, etc. However, content is planned to be linked in the RBOSE google group as well, so anyone present there should then be able to easily access the content.
  3. (sort in wiki) Finally the content may be reorganised freely and maybe linked to & integrated into other places in the wiki. This step can then take a longer time, and is open to everyone to help, as all content is organised in this wiki and therefore safe and open.

Status

  • Identified over 150 different waves (see here)
  • Exported 71 waves to docs (see here)
  • Included 0 docs to wiki

How to help

If you have a google account, feel free to experiment with furry bot and review our progress so far. As soon as we enter step 3, everyone can help to better intergrate the info to our wiki. If you need more info, please enter your questions here, or contact us directly.. :)
