“Better together than alone" said Sepp Holzer. Mixed cultures are the basis of his cultivation. Some principles are:

  • use deep, medium and shallow rooting plants to activate as much of the soil as possible
  • when soil is poor, plant cover crop/ green manure mixes for 2-3 years, then the soil will be fertile enough to plant fruit trees.
  • don't mow them, most plants reseed themselves.

1. Leaves accelerate the composting process

2. Planted in the company of other herbs increases their content of precious essential oils

4. Liked by ladybugs, which eat aphids

6. As a liquid fertilizer rich in potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen, especially recommended for tomatoes and flowering plants

7. Accumulates potassium from the soil

8. Accumulates nitrogen from the soil

9. Luxuriantly grows and spreads. It can be mulching

10. Has the ability to deter certain pests, such as: black ants and aphids
