"Control over your own life is freedom; control over others' life is power.
What is software?Whenever you do something - regardless if this is peeling a skin from an orange, dancing, writing, driving a car, searching for an item you lost somewhere at home, or shopping - it can be represented with software. We live in a world which consist of things and actions which we can performed on these things. Programmers think about them as objects and methods. Any created piece of software is a set of instructions - a prescription how to make things and work with them. For a long time majority of people thought that software is something having merely virtual benefits. That never was the case. Yet interactions with physical world were very limited. Today software interconnects with hardware more than ever. That hardware provides diverse ways to communicate with you and your surroundings. This marriage of software and hardware lets you take pictures of sunsets, measure pressure and temperature, record sound or a music album, setup a radio station, operate with single atoms, track stars, do a homework, make a movie, design a building, drive whole production in factory, create a public library, learn how to drive a plane, and send kind words to people you care about. Software can tell stories of your life. It's a way to write down your thoughts and accelerate them almost to the speed of light - and then multiply through the act of copying. Writing a code can be like writing poetry - a way to share piece of ourselves and let others to enjoy the world together - if you only know a right way how to do it. It can also be an amazing path of helping everyone.
